Today we have Team Thunder and my last day of shooting snowboarding for season. It was the day before I was leaving to fly to California to go to school for the summer and I got a call from Harry Gordo. All he really said was “we got this crazy multi feature deal and if it works it will be very cool”… So I said ahhh what the heck and gathered my gear and I was off.
These guys are all about creativity and trying new shit and this a perfect example of a cool idea that worked out very well. I don’t think this thing ever got named, at least while I was up there but here is a quick explanation of the obstacle like course: It started with a dirt ollie into the valley to a quick step up into a bowl curving you into a big ollie back down into the valley to another quick step up over some trees. First few tries were pretty funny to watch.  A lot of maneuvers went down so I’m sure you will see this in their new movie “Gold Country” coming out this fall.

This week we have a special edition of Sunday Sequence.  We filmed a Day in the life with Cody Rosenthal that will be posted tomorrow and this was part of his day. Actually its probably part of his day everyday. If you haven’t noticed Cody kills it at skateboarding. There are a ton of really good snowboarders who could be Pro skaters and Cody is one of them. Here are a couple shots from the manuel pad that sees some heavy sessions by Cody and frends everytime they skate at the Volcom park in Mammoth.  Enjoy these and stay tuned for the Video and Photo Gallery of Cody’s Day In the Life dropping tomorrow!

- Can’t do this on a snowboard. Kickflip wheelie kickflip out.

Stayed tuned tomorrow for the video and more skating from Cody

Sunday Sequence #13 . Here are two random sequences from some spring time shredding in Mammoth brought to you by Mac Spedale and FRENDS Luke Mitrani.

Check out previous Sunday Sequences HERE

- Mac Spedale flying upside during an extreme japan seven

- Luke Mitrani switch double backie during the WCI party in the pipe 2008

It’s always handy to have a small digi on hand. I usually roll around with my Canon SD100, good for just snapping random shit and the filming aint to bad neither. I actually filmed a few things with my Elf while shooting Superpark 12. Below are some clips of Scotty Lago, Lonnie Kauk and Dan Brisse all doing some crazy stuff on the step down and huge transfer gap. You can kind of get a feel for how loud and powerful the heli was… Pretty radical.

That’s a wrap on Superpark 12: Son of Berserker held in Mammoth. We were lucky enough to be let in and it was a great time. Ton’s of heavy shit went down check out all the photos and sequence to see more of Superpark!

uno dos tres… I give you Nick Russell at the closing day of Park City resort in Utah. We had a pretty awesome pipe session that day and towards the end of the day I asked Nick to do one last slash on the lip. I shot it facing into the sun which it gave a little lens flare, created some cool shadows and the sun back light his spray making for a pretty sweet photo…… Thanks Nick!

GTS | Get The Shot! I always like seeing the behind the scenes of anything. The making of movies, set of a photo shoot or story behind a picture. Since this is a photographers blog we are going to add a new photo behind the scenes feature called GTS. There is a ton of shit and some type of story that happens behind each and every photo anyone takes. Hopefully here will will try and deliver that behind the scenes story for you.

Vans Cup Slopestyle 2008 - Northstar at Tahoe
Saw a photo on Transworld Snowboardings website that Andy Wright took. I happened to be in the photo shooting a photo as well. I went back and looked for the photo I took and voila, you get see both views. It is interesting to see how two different people attack the same trick. Andy is shooting into the sun, standing on the outside edge of the jump. That is actually where I wanted to stand but that caused you to look straight into the sun, which is clearly visible behind a cloud in Andy’s photo. I opted to shoot with the sun behind me but to do that I had to stand outside the jump and walk in when the riders were coming down. You can see in both photos that the rider, Tyler Flanagan, is looking towards the camera. Obviously Andy and I both were looking for the moment that Tyler’s face was towards the camera and Tyler was grabbing. In Andy’s photo Tyler is pretty much at his best point, style wise. In my photo it is a little too early, by the time he reached his best point he was facing the other way so for me, it was not a keeper, for Andy it was. Andy is great photographer either way.

Lonnie destroyed Superpark 12 all day for four days straight. I rolled around with him each day and have a mountain of photos. Below are three of the best sequences of Lonnie during Superpark on the 85ft step down and 100ft transfer gap jump. In case you missed the full gallery and report of Superpark 12 at Mammoth Mountain click HERE.
