There is always one kid anywhere who is down.   Doesn’t matter if your going to set up a 30 stair,  hike for two hours for one line, jib a picnic table or in this case set up skatepark bowl.   Jeremy Black is one of these kids… He was cool enough to solo mission it with me to the local skate park not sure what we were going to hit just that I convinced him it would be a rad photo.  This is not the hugest trick and by no means gives Jeremy’s talent justice but it represents just having fun and being stoked to shred anything.  Our session was just a test run;  The park has so many options and we will definitely be back once it snows again.

Trick: Layback or Slash if you prefer

I began to write this post and got to were you fill out the trick info but was wondered what the hell to call this…… A Layback, Spray or Slash? Well I figured I could turn to the all knowing Google and typed in layback - spray - slash - snowboarding. This it was I came upon first: Snowboardinghelp.com….haha (go figure). They go into a in depth and detail report on the origin of the “layback” and “slash” plus a step by step on how to master both of these extremely advanced skills. Pretty funny check it out the article HERE.
Anyways I have decided thanks to snowboarding help that the first photos would be more of a “layback” and 2nd photo would fall into more of the “slash” category. So I guess I’m satisfied with providing you with the correct term. I will wrap this up with a bit from the article:
“As you can imagine layback maneuvers are fairly hard to achieve but are also very glamour and very impressive when completed. Having an extremely advanced snowboarding ability is an absolute must before attempting as is having the proper safety gear. However, the work and effort are more than worth it once you too can do this and impressive everyone on the hill..”

Well here you go a man who is a master slasher- Johnny Centi smacking Dave’s other wave in Mammoth. Like totally sick brahhh!

Yup this is looking like a good week….. I just got a Mark II last week and had to send it out right away ( because a shutter at the end of it’s life) which sucked. But it was a quick fix and it comes back this Thursday and I’m ready to put that bad boy to use.  Not to mention the forecast for the Waaaasatch Mtns here in Utah is looking pretty good.   In more news be on the look out for two new Photo Features coming to the Revolution and Photo blog :
The Brighton Bunch
and Park City Premium.
These will be added to the list with the growing popular DOUBLE | TAKE feature.
Stay tuned in… more info on those coming soon!

Trick: rodeo seven

What can you say it is Travis Rice. Travis is pretty much like the Terje of the new Millenium. He can pretty much do whatever he wants, including double rodeo 10’s over the Bay Bridge in San Francisco at the Esurance Icer Air. Do the trick and get the chicks, Travis had a lot of female fans.

October was a pretty good month. I took a bunch of good trips, hung out in three different states, got a lot of work done and moved to Utah. Here are some photos from a few random places I went or decided to take some pictures at in October.

- AM
Grand Terrace, CA | Sunset
The first 1 1/2 weeks of October in SoCal the temps where low it was raining a lot, the skies where clear no smog and the local mountains even got a dusting of snow. It was a huge difference to what was about become at at the end of the month with almost all of SoCal on fire. These photos were taken right after a hard rain storm right by my parents house. Pretty nice sunset and rainbow over Blue Mtn.

Newport, CA | Surf Session
My friend had been bugging me to go take some surfing photos of him for awhile and I finally gave in. I just wasn’t to stoked about wake up super early sitting on a beach for couple of hours but it turned out to be pretty sick not to mention on the way down the 91 freeway we saw the white peaks of Mt Badly poking through the clouds. Pretty weird going to surf and seeing snow on the way down.. Never shot surfing before…the waves sucked but I got a few cool photos of some random stuff.

Loma Linda, CA | Skate Session
This was actually the same day as above. We headed back from the beach and had a pretty fun session on the bank under a bridge messing around doing some power slides and ollies and bombing the bank. I remember we used to the same thing back in middle school every single day, just skate all over the place all day everyday. Fun shit.

Great Salt Lake | Utah
Middle of October went for a quick trip vist my lady, friends and finalize my place in SLC. I hit up a lot of the local skateparks for the first time and I felt like I was in heaven. Tons of super fun parks all super close to my soon to be new house. Favorite would have to be Oakley park little further drive but so worth it. We also went to check out the Great Salt Lake pretty insane sunsets..

Reno, Nevada | Downtown
Right after the trip to SLC I flew home and headed straight up to Tahoe for the Boreal Jibassic Rail Jam. In case you missed the FULL REPORT and VIDEO click HERE. It was a alright contest but that night we head back to Reno and to downtown since I had never been and that was pretty interesting. I just could not stop thinking Reno 911.

Nevada Desert I -15 | foggy Sunrise
These two shot are also from Nevada but way over east on the I-15 right after the state line before you hit Vegas. I was heading up to Salt Lake with all my stuff in my truck including dogs. I had left Grand Terrace at about 5 am drove through the dark and right in NV. The sun was rising and the fog was just sitting on these desert mountains creating horizontal lines.  It was a pretty bizarre looking sunrise but was dope. So I pulled over a took a few shots…

Shaun White

Location: Stratton, VT

Trick: frontside 1080

These two photos are from last season 25th annual 2007 Burton US Open. It was the first time I had shot the open, first time at Stratton and was it was quite the experience. From hearing Shaun Whites name said a millions times a day to getting screamed at for not staying in the designated “photo box” (since I didn’t have a ultra super duper photo pass) to riding Powder, Slush, Ice and Rain all in two days and hanging with Billy and Johnny it was pretty rad. Shaun White was the man to beat winning by a landslide…. his winning run consisting of this: frontside 1080, cab 1080, frontside 900, backside 900 alley-opp 900 to a McTwist. In case you missed the US Open Halfpipe video check out Shaun’s winning run HERE.

Two more. Score board and Martinellis. Shaun winning Halfpipe first place $20,000 and TTR $100,000 bucks not bad for one day of snowboarding and not even being 21. In case you missed the 2007 Burton Us Open Halfpipe Full Report check all the photos HERE
